How can I copyright the material on my website, content, images and all?

From where can I copyright the material on my website content and all and will it be free or cost me anything?

1. As I understand it (at least under UK law), material you produce is copyright by default. You don't need to do anything and you don't need to pay anything. It's a good idea to put a copyright statement in the footer of each webpage, e.g. the copyright symbol, your name and the year. But I don't think even that is required.
