Can anyone recommend software that will allow me to build an on-line database with easy content management?

I want to build a website with a database holding text and pictures. It will need to have query and sort functionality as well as 'easy to use' content management. I can do the front end of the site but it's the back end that I need help with.

1. Wordpress is excellent and compliant. Mambo is now called Joomla, Joomla is VERY good. Both have extension and mods that you can add for pictures and other things.

3. Word press is good..To be honest, the best way is to learn PHP with Mysql database. This is the language/database of choice for most web backend programmers. I use mysql on my pc with php and they are very flexible, but a learning curve is there. What might be best is to use one of the open source programs that are available, and look into learning about php/mysql then you can tweak the existing programs or even write your own.
